Last, Last Gasp

This image, entitled "Tree" is from our last gasp snow storm from Saturday.  As soon as I saw this tree I knew I would at least grab the image, whether or not I'd convert it to something photo artistic, I wasn't sure.  But once it was downloaded to my hard drive, there was no doubt for me.  What did surprise me was the number of layers it took to obtain this effect.  You'd think one or two would do it, but I used a half dozen textures, and took it in to OnOne Photo RAW and applied a couple of mild effects.

I guess the lesson is, just because you have a simple subject doesn't mean it'll be simple to prepare for general release.

But the image turned out nicely, don't you think?

"Composed and layered"? What are you talking about Tom? This is how it came, straight out of the camera - even the "John Strong Arts" was already there! ;-)

Thanks for the comments! By the way, it does make a nice print!

While I'm not generally a fan of composed and layered images (too many done poorly) I like this treatment a lot, John. And generally I have come to really appreciate your efforts in this regard. Very creative and quite appropriate for the subject matter. This would make a very nice print.
