Title: Vein of Gold
For Vein of Gold my subject was a small slab of Bumblebee Jasper. I drew out the blues in the Jasper which are normally nearly gray to give the piece an overall blue palette . I used the yellow vein running through the image to create the sudden jolt of color. That striking contrast between the blues and the sudden, powerful yellow sold the composition for me.
I used artificial lighting for this image for a uniform illumination. Nikon gear, including a D610 and a 60mm macro lens with two extension tubes to increase magnification. Software used was Photoshop and Lightroom to remove some glaring imperfections.
